At its core my work is about opposition. The work seeks to explore the tension that exists between notions of stasis and movement; simplicity and complexity; the primal and the civilized; the fluid and the stagnant. I am interested in time and history, but in the way that a chosen moment is frozen in history, while indicating a past, present, and future. My goal is to make work that inferences a sense of the beyond. What i chose to represent exists within in a larger framework of existence, yet, within that representation all existences of that thing are inherent. What i am trying to get at is the dialectic between the infinite and the finite. By representing one with the other and vice versa, I am showing that it is only by the exposition of these extremes and the tension and friction that their interactions create can we hope to understand either of these principles. The power is in the interaction of the oppositions, not only in their otherness, but in their similarity and dependance upon on another. Every action has a reaction, and within that reaction traces of the original action remain and ferment, couple, and re-generate. We are always doing the same things. We are always doing something different. Life is ever variable, yet composed of the same repeating patterns acting within different variables. Our actions never change, our actions change all the time.
